This week I successfully defended my graduate thesis, and am now more or less at the end of my MFA program. Which is to say, I am now at loose ends. It’s an interesting sensation: satisfied, yet adrift.
I think the best way to describe how I feel right now is to lead you all to Stephen Dobyns’s excellent poem “How to Like It.” The drawing above is in response to the lines:
The dog says, Let’s go to sleep. Let’s lie down
by the fire and put our tails over our noses.
