I want you all to know that I thought of these ridiculous dog jokes as I was leaving the stables the other day & repeated them to myself all the way home, for a full thirty minutes, so delighted was I with myself and so keen to remember.

It’s almost September, which means my residency at the Pima County Library is almost over. Astonishing! I’ve really enjoyed my time there, particularly the office hours and all the local writers I’ve met through them. I will miss this time. I will also be grateful to have more time of my own back. Like everyone, I am stunned by how quickly the days turn over.

My garden has rarely looked so bedraggled, and yet, has rarely yielded so much fruit. Let this be a weird, vegetable-related lesson to us all.
