It’s International Women’s Day, and I am wearing red and striking, so I won’t say much here. (Instead I’m going to hang out in the sunshine and read books by women, plus make some phone calls to legislators since there aren’t any protests I can go to in Tucson today.)
This past weekend I went to my friend Rachel’s wedding to her new, wonderful husband Jordan (Rachel is also wonderful, btw), and saw many of my closest friends, and then cried over breakfast when I had to leave them.
In other news, this weekend is the Tucson Festival of Books! I already posted my schedule once, but since it’s almost here, I will do so again now:
Panel 1: Stories Within Stories (Sat, Mar 11, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm)
Folklore, fiction, and family stories: what role do they play in our lives? Are they simply for diversion or do they have a more meaningful impact?

Signing area: Sales & Signing Area – UA BookStore Tent (on Mall) (following presentation)
Panel 2: Tucson Authors Tell All! (Sun, Mar 12, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm)
Three notable local authors compare notes on their Old Pueblo ties, Southwest inspirations, having a book on the big stage, and life in the literary fast lane.

Panel 3: Myth and Memory (Sun, Mar 12, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm)
The past informs the present and is never far behind the characters in these three novels, whose authors will discuss how long-buried secrets and ancestral legacy can overwhelm and undo us.
